Summary:
The Manufacturing Process Specialist (MPS) is responsible for providing technical and troubleshooting support related to the production of components including fixturing, machining applications, safe practices, and programming for components.
All manufacturing components will be processed to run on various machines (e.
g.
cut table, plate roller, horizontal/vertical machining centers, and turning machines).
The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis:
1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.
Essential Functions:
Models and promotes alignment with HOLT's Vision, Values, and Mission o Acts as a specialist with respect to programming software (OmniWin, Camworks, Solid Works solid modeling, PDM, etc.
) to establish processes to create or form components Nests parts for cutting, optimizing steel sheet usage, and minimizing waste Facilitates the release of Engineering Changes (ECNs) and/or New Parts to the Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Inventory Management and is to serve as the overall single point of contact for communicating ECN/NPI effectivity.
Provides input into applicable fixturing/work holding and cutting tools to achieve manufacturing objectives for component production Maintains machining and forming processes to specifications and performs process testing to ensure quality control of practices and procedures Collaborates and mentors operators in the proper use of each process as well as primary responsibility for ensuring that each program is not permanently modified Communicates operational issues, ergonomic, safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, and quality concerns to QA & CI Manager Maintains a high level of understanding of electronic file organization, security, and maintenance Partners with engineering design groups to resolve manufacturing challenges associated with machining and forming - during NPI and prior to the release of production orders.
Assists with continuous improvement activities, 5S development, Rapid Improvement Workshops, and machine PM development Monitors adherence to quality standards and develops action plans to address programming problems that cause sub-standard quality results Communicates, maintains, and collaborates in fostering continuity with the MPS team to include machine operators, welders, MFG technicians, Process Specialist, and Manufacturing Engineers Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering, with detailed set-up sheets and instructions (Standard Work) for the production of the components or units to accompany each process as required.
Communicates feedback on details to the area section manager and participation in Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCAs) of issues, defects, and concerns Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards including addressing Works overtime as required by workload and customers' needs Requires regular and punctual employee attendance Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing processes, tools, manufacturing, and operations, and asset acquisition Ability to accurately read and interpret detailed and complex drawing information to develop time-sensitive component set-ups in addition to the actual process Computer and related software knowledge and/or experience and the ability to learn/use new computer programs Knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
), and SQL / Access databases.

A significant amount of time standing, walking, stooping, and reaching This role frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work Occasionally lifts and moves materials and equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.
Work Environment:
Requires wearing proper protective and safety equipment (PPE) Regularly works around moving equipment and is exposed to flashes of light from welding, and loud noise levels Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water and high-speed rotating equipment Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions Requires dealing with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous people
